This post comes from The Sidewalk School’s Nurse Victor Cavazos and I were not going to post about this little girl out of respect to her and her family. Fortunately, the little girl is almost completely healed Thank you Perry Rae for checking on the little girl regularly and providing some of the medicines for her burns, Dairon Elisondo for checking on her at the hotel room and Gaby Zavala for providing transportation for her and her family to the hotel that night.

Here is what happened just in case you don’t read Spanish: A little girl had scolding hot water spilled on her inside the Encampment (where she lives). She had severe burns. We were worried she would have to be taken to a hospital in Matamoros which are extremely dangerous at the moment because of Covid. I contacted Helen with the Clinic so she could look at the burns and tell me her opinion. Victor and I put the little girl and her family along with The School’s Nurse and her family in a hotel room for 3 nights. After 3 nights we put both families in an apartment for 2 weeks, financially caring for everyone while Kaisabel (the School’s Nurse) cared for the little girl everyday. The little girl is now almost completely healed Thanks to Kaisabel. Kaisabel is the real Hero in this story. She is an amazing woman and an incredibly talented Nurse (certified in her home country) who is sadly living inside the Encampment while waiting for the US Courts to reopen. Thank you Kaisabel for everything The Sidewalk School is Lucky to have you.
